Shirley Perrine of Nashport, Ohio
As far back as I can remember I have been sketching. After relocating in the Zanesville area from Massachusetts, I took my first painting class at the old Zanesville Art Institute. I have taken many workshops and classes from that time on. Some of the artists that I studied with are Dr. Charles Dietz, Ida Kauffman, Walter Chapman, and Mary Todd Beam. I have also studied with nationally known artists such as Edgar Whitney, Frank Webb, Don Stone, and others. I have recently studied with Yan Sun and Christopher Leeper.
Starting out doing oils, I finally went to water-media and enjoyed it most. Many of my paintings have been purchased by local business people and various individuals in the Zanesville area and else where.
I have received several awards and also I am in the permanent collection in the Zanesville Art Center. I am a charter member of Southeastern Ohio Water-Media Society, and a member of ZAAP. My favorite subjects are flowers, because I feel they are the beauties of nature. Their lifetime is so short. I really enjoy preserving them in my paintings.
