Joan Quinn

JOAN QUINN works in her Fox Creek Studio in New Concord. OH.. She holds a BA and a Master’s Degree in Visual Art Education from Muskingum College and taught art for 23 years.  She holds an Associate’s Degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and has worked as a layout and a freelance artist.

Joan QuinnJoan’s art reflects a love of nature, life on a farm, and summers spent in Northern Ontario.  It reflects her appreciation for the simplicity and openness found with the young artist and the sophistication of primitive art which reflects an innate sense of  balance, harmony and design.  She works in many mediums: drawing, painting, sculpting, collage, ceramics and textiles, her favorite being acrylic painting.

Much of her art reflects contrast as she recognizes that in every endeavor of human existence one can find a polar opposite that  both troubles and enriches the mind.  She attempts to show this through her paintings by her use of color and design.

Joan  enjoys the challenge of complex abstract design. Many of her paintings are of a symbolic nature.  She continues to attend workshops while she displays her work throughout Southeast Ohio and is a member of the Southeastern Ohio Watermedia Society, Ohio Watercolor Society, Ohio Regional Art Guild and the Zanesville Appalachian Art Project.
