Anita Gladman
I have been creating since I fell in love with my first box of Crayola Crayons with the pencil sharpener on the back…I’m older now and have moved on to different tools, brushes, paints and mediums, but I still love the look and smell of a brand new box of crayons!!!
In 2002, I was hired to be a decorator at: “Buckeye Stoneware” in Zanesville, Ohio…and the rest is history. I have had great honor and privilege to work with watercolor artist: “MaryAnn Bucci” and pottery icons: “Billie and Nelson McCoy,” of “McCoy Pottery.” I guess you could say that I’ve been bitten by the “pottery bug!” After 5 years, Buckeye Stoneware closed its doors and I was devastated!!! I made a lifelong decision at that very moment, that creating on pottery is where my passion rests. My dream is to paint “one-of-a-kind” pieces. I am now employed by: “Ohio Stoneware,” doing what I love…how many people do you know that say they actually love what the do for a living? Well I’m one of those people!
I am a proud member of the: “Z.A.A.P. Gallery” in Zanesville, Ohio, since 2008. From 2003-currently, I have won 3 ribbons during competition with the submission of my art pottery and poetry that I have composed.
I am proud to say also, that I have donated many of my works to worthy charities, including the: “Animal Shelter Auction, of 2008” I am looking forward to creating beautiful things for the present and future. I am also currently working with Charlotte N.C. on-air radio talent/artist: “Arroe Collins (www.soulbehavior.com),” reproducing his artwork onto pottery and we’ve succeeded!
If I had one wish, I would rekindle the passion of an age-old art form, which is 3~D under glaze on pottery.
I’ll leave you with one last thought: “When you paint, always paint towards your heart.”
“Use this day to create something beautiful!”
